Editing & designing icons
Helping a multi-disciplinary consultancy, by editing or designing new service icons.
Work experience for the company Calfordseaden, which is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary consultancy.
Working closely with their graphic designer Anne Bonson-Johnson, Anne and myself discussed how the companies current icons (found on their website and service brochures) don’t have a cohesive style and are not great representations of the services the company offer.
I spent 4 weeks addressing the issues of inconsistency of weight, line and amount of detail, as well as designing new icons that could replace current ones to strengthen the representations of the services. Anne and I would have weekly catch ups to ensure the project was moving on and constructing a joint vision for all 12 service icons, we now have 12 finished icons, that are being added to the newly formatted brochures.
Seen below is a few sketches I did whilst working through this project, and how some designs no matter how much I experimented were actually better off left alone and simply edited to fit the icons new style. I edited only 4 icons, whereas the rest needed much more work and many more sketches and mock-ups to begin to look like they all fit together.

Some changed, others were perfect as they were
